INTERCULTURAL PERFORMATIVE PROJECT
“REFLECT: Rediscovering the Self Through the Other” is a project carried out in collaboration between Dansverkstæðið in Iceland and the Foundation of Contemporary Art in Poland. Its aim was to create new educational tools and opportunities, particularly for migrant groups in both countries, fostering creative dialogue.
As part of the project, an international performance group was formed in Warsaw, which from April to September 2024 explored the artistic dimension of dreams. The creative process was based on improvisation as well as voice and movement practices in a multicultural context. The outcome was the performance “Thirteen Dreamscapes” and the Reflect Toolkit – a digital tool for improvisation practice.

- took part in the conceptual and compositional work on the performance,
- facilitated the group’s creative process,

Thirteen Dreamscapes

A journey through the collective unconscious. In this world, everything is a contradiction that is not a contradiction. The teacher is a student, discomfort is comfort, my dream is your dream, and thirteen dreams are one dream.
This performance posed questions about how dreams can be perceived as a form of collective experience that transcends personal and cultural boundaries. It was the result of the work of an international performance group formed within the Polish-Icelandic project REFLECT. Simultaneously, a showing took place in Reykjavik.

Reflect Toolkit
A digital platform created for and by performers, dancers, theater practitioners, voice researchers, and teachers. This community-built tool is an evolving archive of improvisation exercises and supports self-directed learning and teaching.
Currently, the platform contains exercises developed within the REFLECT project. Work is underway to develop features that will allow users to plan their own classes, as well as upload and share their practices with others.
